So today we were bored, went for a drive, and ended up at...the SPAM Museum!
For those of you who don't know, the museum is located in Austin, MN, home of Hormel, makers of SPAM. Anyways, the museum was free, and the kids had a blast. It was lots of fun, because the museum makes fun of SPAM as much as the rest of the world does. The kids got to dress up like workers and see how long it took them to put the bean-bag spams in the cans, stick the labels on them, and pack them.
There was also a game show at the end to test your knowledge, and James won. I liked the spot where they showed how different countries around the world prepared SPAM, and then provided the recipes. Then on to the gift shop, where we bought - what else? - a can of SPAM.
Alex is all excited. He's never had it before, so we're going to make it tomorrow for lunch, to see if he likes it. Who thought SPAM would make a kid so happy?

Oh, how fun! I grew up on Spam living only 20-30 minutes away from Austin. Mom put it in Mac and cheese and we had fried Spam sandwiches a lot. I've always thought that is was too salty though so I'm a bigger fan of plain ham.
