This, my friends, is a whirligig. A's whirligig, to be precise.
And this one is B's.
Not only does the wind cause the whole bug to spin in circles, but occasionally it catches the propellers and spins that faster than the bug. They're very amusing to watch! We got the idea from a book we checked out at the library,
Wind Chimes and Whirligigs. Surprisingly, we had all the materials on hand. You can't see it in these pics, but each one has a "stinger" on the back made of a long screw. I think they need real names. Any suggestions?
