Pregnancy Update

I realize that I haven't mentioned my pregnancy lately on here, mainly because not much has changed.  After 11 weeks of being technically diagnosed with Gestational Diabetes (GD), we are STILL playing with the medication dosages, trying to find something that works.  I think one of the next steps will be insulin shots, and to be honest, it will be a relief to me.  I was on the insulin with Alex, so the shots don't really bother me, and it's much more reliable than the Glyburide I'm on now, because it's easier to control when it becomes effective.

I have to confess, though, I'm counting down the time until this baby is born, and my blood sugar (hopefully) goes back to normal.  If and when that happens, I'm going to have one meal of nothing but carbs...pasta and baked potatoes and ears of corn and a non-diet soda and dessert!  I can have all of those in small amounts now, but it's never as much as I want.  For example, 1/3 c. of pasta is one carb, and I can only have 3 carbs a meal, so 1 c. of pasta is it.  I have to be careful what I top the pasta with, because some toppings have carbs.  And I can't have potatoes or peas or corn with it, because those are starchy vegetables that contain carbs.  Honestly, it's a pain in the neck!  But it's for the good of the baby, so I'm suffering through it.

Other than that, the baby is doing well.  For those who haven't heard yet, it's definately a boy.  While I'm excited that we will only have one drama queen in the family, I am a little sad, because honestly, girl clothes are SO much cuter to buy/make than boy clothes.  I have so many patterns of cute little girl clothes, but not a single one of boy's clothes.  My friend Gretchen did post a company that had some cute items to knit, so maybe this winter I'll teach myself to knit in my free time - HAH!   I have a ton of christmas gifts that I'm working on right now, since I doubt I'm going to have time around christmas to do my usual last-minute gifts.

For some reason your diabetes heats up with the boy babies. I didn't think you had big problems with Bella. And I had two boys and GD with both. Hmmmm. Blame it on the boys.

I don't know that I would handle it as well as you have. I don't remember when I have to go in for the whole glucose test but I'm going in with fingers crossed! We're hoping for a boy so we'll see how it goes. Our ultrasound is Friday but we want to be surprised.
