Our little town does their 4th of July celebrations on the 3rd, so after dinner we walked up to our 2 block main street to check out all the action. Alex bounced in a bouncy-thing for a while, and then both kids decorated cookies. Then came the pony rides. The ponies were the first thing we saw when we got to main street, and the whole time we were up there Bella kept repeating "Ride the pony. Ride the ponly." We tried to tell her that she wasn't big enough, but you can't reason with an almost 2 year old. So we put her on a pony, and she lasted about 5 minutes before she started crying "all done". After a minute or two, she started back in with "Ride the pony". She about drove me nuts! Alex really enjoyed the pony ride, though!

There were also fireworks that night. James had to work, and I wasn't ambitious enough to keep the kids up for a few hours past bedtime, so they went to bed as normal. Well, when they started, I realized that you could see most of them from our house, so I ran upstairs and woke Alex up, and we sat on the front porch to watch them. After about 2 minutes, he turned to me and said "I just want to go back to bed now" in the most pitiful little voice. So back off to bed he went, and then I sat out there by myself and enjoyed the rest of the fireworks.
