Fair Fun

Today we went to our county fair. The kids had a lot of fun looking at all the animals. Their favorite was the petting tent where they got to pet and feed most of the animals.

Alex is feeding a highland calf. They were really cute, and they only grow to be about 40" tall. I really wanted to bring one home, but James vetoed that idea :(

Bella wasn't too sure about petting most of the animals. She finally got up the guts to get close to this goat and then it started eating her dress, and that was the end of "up close and personal" for her. She preferred to watch the animals from the safety of daddy's arms.

We didn't get to go on rides at the fair, because Alex forgot to turn his listening ears on before we left today. He still had a lot of fun looking at them and figuring out which rides he was going to go on when he gets bigger.

Speaking of getting bigger, Alex told me today that he's going to be a teacher when he grows up, and that he's going to live in an "apartment-hotel" in Northfield, because he doesn't want to live too far away. (Northfield is only about 15 minutes away, and ironically does have a teaching college there.) He told me he's going to teach music, which makes me wonder where he's going to get his musical ability, because neither James nor I are musically inclined!
