Outdoor fun and a pretty porch

The last two days it has been about 90 degrees here with a very high humidity. It makes for a miserable mom! :) When I do go outside, I like to hang out on the front porch, since that's where the shade is. We just painted it, so it's all nice and bright white. It took us quite a while, since we didn't have a pressure washer to get all the old paint off. We just did a lot of scrubbing. James hates painting, but he did most of it, because I would have needed the stepladder to do the high parts, and he didn't. Besides, he's really good at using the roller to coat large areas, and I'm better at the detailed stuff using a brush. We work well together. The house needs painting too, but we're not sure if we're ready to tackle that project yet!

James says that he can build me some chairs for my porch. That will probably be a winter project, since we have a bunch of stuff to do outside. Meanwhile, my camp chairs work well for now. The kids seem to love them just as much as I do.

When I was able to pry them out of the chairs, they went after the front walk with all the sidewalk chalk we had.

I haven't decided whether or not we're going to change the front walk. It functions, but the people before us put it in, and it's not level at all. Weeds are also sprouting up between the blocks and along the inside of the edging. A couple of the bricks are also cracked. I have my eye on these really cool paving stones at Menards, but there's no way I'm paying $100 just for the stones. Now if they go on sale... ;)
